A typical day with the Non-Acute Channel Team
As part of the Non-Acute Channel Team, I collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care beyond hospital walls, including clinics, long-term care facilities, and home care.
In my world, there's no such thing as a "typical" day, which makes it incredibly exciting. I could be in a patient's home, supporting them on product use, providing virtual education sessions, or training a nursing agency on BD products to align with our best practices.
On other days, I'm hosting webinars, sharing the latest in infusion therapy best practices, vessel health preservation and ensuring that our team stays up-to-date on the latest guidelines and standards. The best part? I get to collaborate with a fantastic team and contribute to professional associations that advance healthcare. Every day is different, and I love the variety it brings!

Making a positive difference for patients
I recently received an email from an elderly woman who had been crawling to the bathroom multiple times a night due to orthostatic hypotension. After speaking with me and trying our new urology product, she could finally sleep through the night. This woman's experience is just one of many, as I've had similar conversations with women undergoing chemotherapy who have also benefited from our products. Knowing that we are making a positive difference in people's lives motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in our industry. Being in this role has allowed me to reconnect with my desire for nurse-to-patient interactions, and seeing the impact BD products have on people's lives has been nothing short of amazing.
What I love about what I do
At BD, I'm passionate about my work and its impact on our customers and patients. I feel fortunate to be part of a team that has expanded to cover all aspects of our products beyond hospital doors, making us agile, flexible, and responsive even within a large organization. As we continue to innovate and make a difference in people's lives, I take immense pride in our collective commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for all, particularly those in underserved sectors. This dedication to positive change fuels my love for my work at BD, and I am excited about the future we are shaping together.
One thing I wish I’d known when I started out
If I could speak to my younger self at the beginning of my career, I would tell her to be proactive in joining professional associations that adhered to evidence and best practice guidelines of the time. However, when I started my career, technological advancements were less ingrained in our day-to-day activities than today. Therefore, we needed a deeper understanding of the good care of vascular access on patient outcomes back then. This is important in the ever-changing healthcare environment to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Holistically, I emphasize the importance of being open to new opportunities and embracing change, as it often leads to growth and personal development. I'd also remind her to cultivate strong relationships with colleagues and mentors, as their guidance and support can be invaluable. Above all, I would encourage her to always to maintain her passion for nursing and the difference she can make in people's lives. This dedication to helping others will be the driving force behind a fulfilling and rewarding career.
I like to give back beyond my role
Guiding the way in patient care with a smile and essential medical equipment for vascular access. | Sharing moments of joy with resilient Haitian children during a life-changing volunteer journey. |
I've had the incredible opportunity to participate in service trips, making a significant impact in communities worldwide. My volunteer experiences in Haiti and Peru have allowed me to share my expertise and contribute to the well-being of those in need, witnessing the positive effects of my work firsthand and leaving me deeply grateful.
In Haiti, I volunteered alongside a diverse and talented BD team, which was a truly eye-opening experience. Witnessing the devastation from the earthquake and the living conditions was heart-wrenching. However, working in medical clinics with Haitian doctors and observing people’s resilience was genuinely life-changing.
Similarly, during my BD volunteer trip to Peru, we supported various "pop-up" mountain clinics and a dedicated women's clinic in Cusco. By offering pap tests and breast screenings, we addressed the limited access to women's healthcare and the high incidence of cervical cancer in these communities. These experiences have been genuinely heartwarming, further reinforcing the importance of service work in making a real difference across the globe.
